About Us

Hello and welcome to Gardner Cultivation! We are two young homesteaders on a small farm in the Ozarks of central Missouri, but Gardner Cultivation is much more than just the two of us and our few acres of land. It’s a philosophy, a movement that needs your participation to bring it to fruition.

In 2015 we moved out to the farm in our newly built tiny house seeking a simpler life focused on growing our own food and connecting more fully with the natural world. We created Gardner Cultivation to share our experiences in the pursuit of agriculture and to encourage others who wish to seek a personal relationship with the source of their food.

This was not simply an agriculture; at best, it was also a culture of such deep-rooted and complex wisdom that it preserved the fertility of the earth under the most intensive human use.

-Wendell Berry, Radical Agriculture

We want to encourage everyone to participate in agriculture on a personal level. Planting a small garden or raising a few backyard chickens are just a couple of simple ways to do this and can provide healthy, nutritious food for yourself, your family, and even your community. We hope that you will use this website as a resource to pursue cultivating food in a personal way.
