Methods & Materials, Tiny House

Setting up our spot

Here at Gardner Cultivation Homestead, we spent some time over the winter choosing a location on the farm to put our tiny house. We ultimately settled on this spot on top of our highest hill in the middle of this field. We chose this location because our soil map shows that this is an excellent place to grow crops and it is a nice level spot for our house.

With our shed location ready, we had a beautifully constructed garden shed delivered by Classic Buildings in Rolla. Many thanks to Nick, Matthew, and James at Classic Buildings for helping us find the one we wanted. We highly recommend this business to anyone looking for a shed or outbuilding.

Classic Buildings delivered our shed right to the farm and placed it exactly where we wanted it.

With our shed in place, our next step was to have a well drilled in our field so that we can irrigate our crops. Our well was drilled by Tenco drilling and pump company, another local business that we highly recommend.

Gene Tennyson at Tenco drilling got our well all set up and ready to go.

The only thing left to do at this point was to hitch up our tiny house and tow it up the hill.

With the house in place, we can sit and watch the spring rains roll across the countryside. Time to get growing!
